Karen Barger

Dr. Barger grew up in a small town outside of Baltimore MD.  She's been working in the veterinary industry since she was 14 years old and got her first job as a veterinary assistant working evenings after school.  Over the next 12 years she worked as a receptionist, surgical technician, critical care technician, and in 2007 decided it was time to go to vet school.

She graduated from Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine with Honors in 2011.  She moved to the DFW area to work at her first job as a General Practitioner and Emergency Veterinarian.  Over the past decade she has had extensive training in emergency medicine, shelter medicine, and surgery, which is one of her areas of professional interest.  She is also passionate about multi-modal pain relief and anesthesia.  Her practice philosophy is to offer the highest quality of medicine, with the least amount of stress possible to her patients and their owners.  She is confident using fear free techniques to try to keep her patients' comfortable during their veterinary visits.

When she's not at work at Alliance Animal Health Center, you can find her spending time with her husband who is a software engineer, her teenage daughter who is a competitive dancer, her son who enjoys video games and soccer, along with her family's 2 dogs and 5 cats.
